“One of the consistently best restaurants in North America”
We visit Ucluelet every few years and Norwood’s never disappoints. The appetizer sampler is so wonderful you could make it your meal. Somehow a simple spinach salad is raised to a work of art. The cod melted in your mouth; the three little pigs were beautifully plated and perfectly cooked, the duck was delightful. And every year we come back for the light as air goat cheese cake. James Beard should come calling.
“World-class dining on the remote west coast”
My second visit to this exquisite restaurant did not disappoint. Some of the best, fresh, local food in the world found on the on the west coast of Vancouver Island nestled in the rainforests of Pacific Rim National Park. Two cauliflower curry was full of flavour, filet seasoned and cooked to perfection with impeccable BC wine pairings. Service was excellent and tableware was spotlessly polished and replaced between each serving. Unbelievable that such great food can be found in a remote location.
“A gem in a small town”
My wife and I had a unique and very tasty dinner at this small and friendly restaurant. The wait staff was quite helpful at suggestions and discussing drink options and the menu. As our first visit we were full of questions. They had a unique selection of cocktails. The menu was based on local farm to table. My wife had elk tenderloin, I had a pork entree with the pork 3 ways. It was like going to the ballpark having a spicey mustard hot dog, then having a visit to a BBQ joint and a little taste , then a bit of refined pork tenderloin with nice sides. All very tasty indeed. Then desert was no slouch.
“A gem in Ucluelet “
A nice surprise to find such a good restaurant in the beautiful region of Ucluelet. The food was very good and service was stellar (kudos to Krista). We had the special (curry) and octopus for appetizer, the cod for main and finally the creme brule and the special (4) for dessert. We decided to go with wine pairing, all BC wines. All in all a little gem of a restaurant. Highly recommended. Reservation are a must since it’s very busy with a good following.
“Best meal of my life”
Simply the best meal of my life. The halibut was amazing. The steak was even better. The wine. The service. The food. What more can I say – get to Norwoods NOW!
“Did we really leave the city and visit Ucluelet, or are we dreaming?”
One would never expect to find a restaurant of this calibre in a small, friendly community like Ucluelet. Yet we did! Fantastic place to eat and relax while enjoying a gourmet meal. Somewhat pricy but unless you’re travelling on a shoe-string, a one night indulgence at Norwood’s will leave a lasting and treasured memory. Richard and his hand picked crew will provide the atmosphere and dining experience you would only expect in a large city.
“A Wonderful dining experience”
Truly a great meal. A wonderful find. The meals were delicious, presentation was great and the service excellent. Reservations are recommended. You won’t be disappointed in choosing Norwoods. Your meal is not rushed leaving you time to enjoy every course. The restaurant is quiet so you can easily have a conversation with your fellow diners. If you get the chance, don’t miss this gem.
“Amazing in Ucluelet”
Came in for our last dinner in Ukee and we were not disappointed! We lucked out as we didn’t have reservations and were seated promptly at the “chefs table” at the bar facing the kitchen. For us we love the seats closest to the kitchen as we love to see all the care put into each dish. We started with West Coast seafood Sampler which was a selection of amazing local seafoods. We followed this up with the Chimichuri Mussels as we saw them being prepared and couldn’t not try them. We were so happy we ordered them as well! Our main dishes were as amazing as the starters, we had the Cod and the venison in black powder rub. Both were excellent and would order again in a heart beat. To finish we had the chocolate and hazelnut tort…..yum! The staff was wonderful and very attentive, the drinks fun and creative and the chefs cooking were great to chat with. The menu is small here which we appreciate as each dish is crafted just perfectly. I would for sure add this place to a “must try” if you’re ever in Ucluelet.
